He Has Hat Enough

A game prototype I made together with Dorias Schärer:

Beneath the gameplay video are some tutorial animations I made for our presentation of the game.

The gameplay is about stealing the enemy's abilities by defeating them and wearing their hat. The more hats you wear, the more and stronger abilities get triggered when you attack. With the hat tower growing, so does your hit- and collision box. Meaning you won't be able to get through tight spaces and get hit easier when wearing many hats at once. When you get hit by an enemy attack, you lose a hat. Getting hit without wearing any hats means game over. The goal is to reach each level's end.

The level in the video is only a test level to demonstrate the basic gameplay and enemy types.

I programmed the first iteration of the basic movement, designed all weapon and hat sprites and made all animations. With the mechanics, for the weapons and in general, we came up together.
We focused mainly on good game feel, with snappy controls and overall smoothness.
